Security measures that deliver data security and restricted access must meet strict data protection criteria as set out in the governing country’s legislation, acts, regulations, directives and bills.
The key legislation in New Zealand in relation to data protection is the Privacy Act 2020 (‘the 2020 Act’). The 2020 Act empowers the Office of the Privacy Commissioner (‘OPC’) to issue codes of practice, which comprise part of the privacy law in New Zealand.
At Pacific Transcription, we not only understand the importance of meeting these legislative requirements, but we’ve also taken many measures in ensuring we have the best possible processes and systems in place to meet these requirements. How do we do this?
We provide secure and geographically locked down transcription services, to meet our client’s specific data security, restricted access, and privacy requirements. We’ve heavily invested in and continued to develop our bespoke data flow software system, called “Pacific Central”. This system supports restricted access at a client level, right down to an individual file level. Once we’ve flagged a client and/or file/s to be under restricted access, files cannot leave that assigned jurisdiction.
Our mature security and data systems undergo regular review and updates. Pacific’s continual improvement process (evidenced by ISO 9001 certification) demonstrates and documents these developments.
Further, Pacific is seeking ISO 27001 certification in March 2022. ISO 27001 is a recognised international standard on how to manage information security. While Pacific’s systems and processes already meet this international standard, our seeking certification will cement and confirm our robust and legislative-compliant processes.
